"Our Mission is to let readers see it as it is, from real Australian people who are forced to live it and to hear it in un-politically correct, but real, terms, the situation surrounding our beloved Alps and all the woes that have befallen them. To make accountable the Politicians, Bureaucrats, Radical greens that through either ineptitude, or Agenda, or Corporate greed, or all of the above have failed to place their loyalty to the Australian peoples needs first. Our Rural families are a minority brought about by the unfettered
globalisation policies of the current and preceding governments that have failed them and us dramatically and as such are entitled to be heard. If the only way that, that is possible is through SOS and we are able to at least make the reader think a little more laterally than the diatribe of agenda driven views that has been the indoctrination process of successive governments with the media's help over the years, then I will be happy."

"The importance of the horse in Australia’s cultural heritage is often exploited when it comes to significant events like the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympic Games. Our folklore is rich in stories of horses and horsemanship. Yet, despite the obvious bond Australians have with these traditions, present day Australian Governments and bureaucrats are making it increasingly difficult, for those of us who love horses, to keep alive the enjoyment of riding horses through the Australian countryside. This website was established to expose the forces that are attempting to destroy Australian horsemanship and to provide useful information to anyone who wishes to help us resist these destructive trends. The site is presently under construction. This first series of articles lays out the basic issues and supplies information on the bureaucratic machinery you will confront if you get involved in the struggle." |

ATHRA (Australian Trail Horse Riders Association) was formed way back in 1972 to fill a much needed gap for those people who enjoyed horses, our heritage, the outdoors and camaraderie all encompassed within a non competitive leisure horse pursuit.
Today ATHRA boasts over 115 clubs nationally with a membership base of approximately 3500 members. ATHRA is structured to optimise the benefits to its members, it has a National, State and Club based management. ATHRA is primarily a leisure trail horse riding organisation that provides to its members the ability to ride anywhere that permits horse access and with any ATHRA club.

"The legacy lives on in the Snowy Mountains Horse Riders Association – Keeping Our Heritage Alive….In the tradition of the Man from Snowy River our vision is to hold on to the values of our heritage… our mountain horsemanship, our bush skills and bush lore, our history and our memories. A unique Australian way of life, our aim is to be sincerely recognized by governments and society as responsible and legitimate land users in our traditional areas. The Snowy Mountains Horse Riders Association Incorporated has renewed its vision for the future and refined its aims and objectives with a refreshed group of people who are committed to see that issues, which threaten the heritage of the Man from Snowy River, are properly managed. The Association will continue to lobby for the reintroduction of horse riding into some wilderness areas as well as offer their resources and skills in other areas. The SMHRA will also now be involved in the Wild Horse Management Plan with Kosciuszko National Park including representation of the Association on the Wild Horse Management steering committee. They see that the wild horse issues go hand in hand with the history and culture of the high country horsemen and as brumby advocates see that they can play a significant part in this venture." |
